I am delighted to tell you that the grass seeds of our new playing facility were sown on Sat 24th June 23, after many years of hard work, by so many people within the club and community. What we as a club started, having held our first meeting back in 2018 to discuss the possibility of purchasing our own lands, we finally see after 5 years, the sowing of the grass seeds this morning, it felt that Barrow Rangers has eventually got its own home.
Thanks to everyone who helped out along the way to achieving this day. One person I would like to give special mention to is Martin Maher, who drove this development since he took the chair of the Field Committee, dealing with the vendors, solicitors, PDA, land registration and contractors. It was frustrating work at times, helped immeasurably by Paul McShane and Philip Maher. There are many other people to thank but too many to name. This has been a mammoth undertaking by so many and has drawn us together as a community for the benefit of generations to come.
Also, the club would like to thank Dowling Brothers contractors for the completion of the works.
Thanks to all involved,
James Flavin
Chairperson, Barrow Rangers GAA.
