Barrow Rangers  2 - 11    Graignamangh  1 - 11

It may have been 30th October and a 10:30 throw in but brilliant sunshine greeted both teams in Dunmore for the Roinn C Minor Hurling Final on Saturday. For the time of year the pitch was in great condition as well so no excuses there either. Barrow Rangers were contesting their third Juvenile final of the year and hoping to lift their second Cup. A Ted Dunne pointed free for Graignamangh in the third minute got the scoreboard ticking. Shortly after Cathal Purcell who was to see plenty of action in the first half landed a point from out on the left wing. A converted 65 from Joe Healy put Rangers ahead and when Conor Byrne hit the equaliser on the tenth minute it was to be Graigs only point from play!!

Niall Carpenter had Rangers back in front with a well taken point a minute later. Sean Hamilton knocked over a 65 and a free which saw his side take a one point lead to the water break. Barrow Rangers 0-03 Graignamangh 0-04.

On the resumption Hamilton landed another 65 to make it a two point game as Graig looked to gain a foothold on the match. Joe Healy reduced the deficit when he pointed from play and three minutes later Rangers were in front when after some good inter play the sliotar found it's way to Dylan Hunston who at first seemed to have lost his chance but somehow managed to get his shot off and into the net to put his side two points ahead. Once again Hamilton landed two frees to tie the game as we approached half time. A Healy free in added time would see Rangers take a one point lead to the break. Barrow Rangers 1-05 Graignamangh 0-07.

Within a minute of the restart the sides were level again when Hamilton proved accurate with a placed ball again. Graig though would go another sixteen minutes without another score during which time Rangers seized control of the game.

Paddy Wade had Rangers back in front on the 32nd minute and a minute later Niall Carpenter slotted over from an acute angle. Healy stretched the lead to three when he pointed and pushed it out to four when he converted a 65. Just before the water break Hamilton had it back to a goal with another one of his frees. Barrow Rangers 1-09 Graignamangh 0-09.

With the game so tight and every score hard won the final quarter was going to be a tense affair so a good start was vital. Both sides created and missed chances before five minutes in Hunston who was now operating at full forward got his second goal. Like with his first goal it looked like he had missed his chance but his ground shot from a difficult angle trickled over the line. Rangers were now two goals up and when Healy made it a seven point game with a pointed free on the 56th minute Rangers looked in command. Any complacency that was setting in was soon shattered when within a minute Dunne found the back of the Rangers net to bring it back to four. With a minute of normal time remaining a Hamilton free reduced it to a goal and ensured a nervy finish. In added time Healy landed what was a pressurised 65, his third of the day. The final score of the game would go to Hamilton who landed his ninth point from placed balls. On the puck out the final whistle went much to the relief of the large Barrow Rangers following.
