BARROW RANGERS 0 - 15 DICKSBORO 0 - 09

A strong diagonal wind made for tricky conditions for this Roinn C Minor hurling Championship Semi Final in Paulstown last Sunday morning. The visitors playing with the aid of the wind in the first half made the better start with David Fitzpatrick opening the scoring in the first minute. Within a minute midfielder Luke Bourke had extended their lead with a pointed free. Rangers had to wait until the ninth minute of the half to open their account courtesy of a Charlie Mullins point. Two minutes later Niall Carpenter slotted over to tie the game in what would turn out to be a low scoring half. David Mulrooney put the Boro back in front but Carpenter again levelled the game. Bourke and Paddy Wade then swapped pointed frees to leave the score four points a piece. Dicksboro managed to tag on two more points before the break, a pointed free from Bourke and one from play by Mulrooney. Halftime Dicksboro 0 -06 Barrow Rangers 0-04.

With the wind at their backs for the second half the home side piled on the pressure right from the throw in and within a minute were on the scoreboard with a Joe Healy pointed free. A minute later the game was all square when Dylan Hunston pointed. Rangers half back line were gaining a stranglehold on the game with the result that the Boro lads were finding scoring opportunities hard to come by. By the time we reached the water break Healy had his team ahead by three points, the first from a free and two from play. At the water break Barrow Rangers 0-09 Dicksboro 0-06.

Upon the restart things didn't improve for the City outfit as Rangers would hit five unanswered points. The first of these came after right halfback Noah Scully plucked the ball from the sky and soloed up the pitch to score, a minute later he did a carbon copy. Hunston, Healy and Darragh Carpenter add the other points. With six minutes of normal time remaining a pointed Sean Knox free got Dicksboro's first score of the second half. Healy replied with what was to be Rangers last score of the game when he pointed a close in free. Knox who battled hard in the second half got his second and first from play as the game headed for added time. The final score of the game would fall to the Boro, a free on the 21 in front of goal would see Bourke's shot fly over the crossbar.
