Our Under 13s were oh so unlucky this evening at the County training centre at Dunmore, just losing out to Blacks and Whites in a thrilling 13 a side league final.
The match started with a bang with the teams trading goals before Blacks and Whites took the barest of margins. After the first half water break, Barrow Rangers came at them again, trading scores but trailing 3-05 to 3-02 at half time. Back at it in the second half and a few tactical changes form the bench saw our lads control large parts of the half, but found their opponents goalie in top form. Blacks and Whites got the rub of the green and the more favourable of the decisions by the ref, and as we pushed on looking for the equaliser and winner, the inevitable spaces left behind were exploited.
A fantastic push at the end bringing the gap back to one score wasn't enough and Blacks and Whites increased their lead to the final whistle. There were plenty of disappointed young men out there for the club, but they should be proud of themselves with how they fought, and they played a mature and exciting brand of hurling throughout. There's no doubt their time is coming. Thanks lads, well done. You've done yourselves and the club proud. It was also great to see so many supporters come out to cheer on the lads, and they were treated to a smashing game of hurling. Congratulations to the Blacks and Whites.
